Balkan Capital Management OOD was established by Pravin Banker, Vassil Karaivanov and Cedric Banker.

Pravin Banker

Pravin Banker has 30 years of experience in the global capital markets in the emerging countries of Latin America, Russia/CIS, Central Europe, Asia South, Southeast Asia, and Africa serving a roster of clients including a number of emerging country governmental agencies and central banks.

He is currently the Executive Director of Global Financial Network Inc, a US-based Financial Services Company specializing in distress situations, a principal in Balkan Capital Management, and Supervisory Board Member and shareholder of Medica, a pharmaceutical company in Bulgaria. He was formerly a principal in Prabank Capital, a NASD/SEC registered broker-dealer from 1988-1996, a Financial Advisor to Global Financial Group from 1985 to 1995, one of the first emerging country funds and, prior to that, Director of Treasury Operations at IBM World Trade Company as well as Senior Treasury Consultant to the IBM Treasurer.

Clients serviced included Banco Nacional and Banco Itau in Brazil, Banamex in Mexico, Essar Steel, Ispat, Reliance, Mahindra, Cipla, Kothari Industries, and IFCI in India, Doverie group and Darik radio in Bulgaria, Venepal in Venezuela, Banco Centrals de Guatemala and Paraguay, National Bank of Yugoslavia, Mellon Bank, Fleet Bank, Bank of America in the USA, Societe Generale Bank of France, Fidelity Investments, Gramercy Funds, Texas Pacific Group and Bain Capital, amongst others.

Pravin has a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Business from Columbia University in New York, USA

Cedric Banker

Cedric Banker, currently the General Manager of Balkan Capital Management, has also been a Director of Global Financial Network Inc., a US based company since 2002. Before working at GFN, Mr. Banker had joined the famed futures and options trading house, Timberhill Group LLC, in 1998, where he expanded their retail business. Previously Mr. Banker had worked as an analyst for Jupiter Investments Ltd.

Mr. Banker graduated with a BA in Economics from Cornell University in 1998 and an MBA from the Boston College Carroll School of Management in 2002.

Vassil Karaivanov

Before joining BCM, Vassil Karaivanov led the capital markets team at Balkan Advisory Company in Bulgaria and was Deputy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the investment intermediary "Balkan Advisory Company - IP". He has significant experience working in capital markets and research for Balkan Advisory Company in Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Macedonia.

Vassil is Assistant Professor on Investments for the MBA programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", as well as Certified Investment Consultant and Broker of Securities.

Among clients served are the Republic of Bulgaria (marketing and placement of the €250m debut Eurobond), Kremikovtzi, BDZ (Bulgarian Railways), NEK (National Electricity Company of Bulgaria), Bulgargaz (the gas transit monopolist in Bulgaria), TPP Maritsa East 2 and TPP Varna (thermal energy plants), the Electricity Distribution companies of Varna and Gorna Oryahovitsa, E.ON, OTP bank of Hungary, Maritsa East Mines, Assarel Medet (copper mining), Bulgarian Post Bank, Allianz Bank Bulgaria, Royal Potatoes, United Milk Company, Doverie-Brico (the local franchise of DIY chain Mr. Bricolage), Yubanka of Serbia, JP Morgan Securities, CSFB and others.
